Much ado about....

http://www.tennesseewoodshop.etsy.com

...using solid wood. There are so many places that would dupe you into thinking you are buying a solid wood peice of furniture or whatever the item is, and it really is just an inferior wood with a high-end veneer! They say "it's solid wood", which technically is correct. But they arent telling you that its a solid wood veneer. Some cases, its even particle board under that 1/64th inch thick peice of exotic veneer! I say fooey on the cheap knock offs!

Another thing that bugs me, is that there are some "wood workers" that just stick a peice of wood in a $2500 machine, press some buttons and out comes an impossibly intricate wood carving! Yet they call it hand made because they sand it a little by hand and apply a stain... Thats not real handmade. Granted, we ARE in the age of electricity and power tools and power hand tools, but thats no excuse to take the real artistic craftsmanship out of wood working! There is nothing wrong with using a dremel stye power hand tool to carve shapes and designs. Youre still doing it by hand. Even 2000 years ago, there were lathes and tools used powered by your legs and arms... Now we use electricity. At my Etsy shop, you will find many genuinely handmade items ranging from pens to pendants, keychains to stud earrings. I enjoy the art of taking a peice of wood in my hand and making an awesome peice of jewelry or pen out of it. Stop in and check out my stuff.
